Patient Model FAQs

Ultrasound Training Solutions teaches specialist doctors how to use ultrasound machines. These doctors must practise the use of ultrasound on real people to simulate real-life situations as would be encountered in the workplace. We are always seeking the services of models for the delivery of courses.

Will I be paid?

Yes, you will be paid by cheque or direct bank deposit. Rates vary depending on the type of examination and time taken.

When do you need me?

Ultrasound Training Solutions runs courses 7 days a week between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm.

How long will it take?

Session times are are generally one or two hours, depending on the area to scan.

What sort of people do you need?

We are looking for models of all sizes and shapes. If you have a pre-existing medical condition this is not an issue - we are seeking to replicate the real world where doctors encounter all types of medical conditions. In particular we are looking for people that have pathology such as:

  • Gall stones
  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms
  • Ascites (abdominal fluid)
  • Heart valvular disease

What do you scan?

We generally scan the limbs, neck and torso regions.

How many people will scan me?

There will be a maximum of four doctors and an experienced tutor in the room at any one time. Every measure possible is taken to protect your privacy and ensure your comfort.

Is this an official medical scan?

Absolutely not. We DO NOT provide an official report of any kind. However, if we find anything unusual, we will advise you and your doctor if you wish us to.

Where will you need me?

All courses are run at the Ultrasound Training Solutions facility in Ivanhoe.
