Objectives

On completion of this three-day clinically focused paediatric ultrasound course, learners will be able to:

Use ultrasound system controls to optimise imaging for accurate diagnosis
Develop proficiency in probe manipulation to efficiently acquire diagnostic images
Describe the limitations and clinical integration of the following ultrasound examinations:
- eFAST
- renal
- lung
- paediatric hip
- fracture assessment
- paediatric abdomen

Use a systematic approach to conduct ultrasound assessment of a) trauma b) acute abdomen c) renal calculi, hydronephrosis, renal trauma and bladder volume d) lungs in the shocked, arrested, breathless and febrile patient e) hip joint effusions f) fractures Demonstrate ultrasound guided needle placement in- plane and out of plane for vascular access and procedural applications using ultrasound simulators
