Objectives
Designed specifically for rural and remote nurses, this online module provides you with the knowledge to get the most out of your ultrasound practice and Lumify systems. Through a series of focused video tutorials, we break down learning ultrasound in a stepwise manner so you can pick up the probe with confidence.
There are 6 modules each with a specific focus, combining to a total of 9.5 hours of content that you can refer to again and again.
Module 1: General ultrasound knobology – how an ultrasound system works
- Navigate your way around your system and its primary functions
- Set up for an ultrasound exam
- Choose the appropriate imaging mode – B-mode, M-mode, colour Doppler, power Doppler, spectral Doppler
- Optimise your image
- Make accurate measurements
- Archive your images
Module 2: How to use the Lumify – what you need to know to get going with Lumify
- Navigate your way around your Lumify and its primary functions
- Set up for an ultrasound exam
- Choose the appropriate transducer
- Choose the appropriate imaging mode – B-mode, M-mode, colour Doppler
- Optimise your image
- Make accurate measurements
- Archive your images
Module 3: Scanning principles – the building blocks of successful imaging
- How you can find the right window to get the best view of the anatomy
- What actions you can take to purposefully get the best image that you can
- How to scan safely
- How to look after your machine
Module 4: POCUS topics specific to your curriculum
- Fracture assessment
- Needle guidance and vascular access
- Foreign bodies
- eFAST introduction, right upper quadrant, left upper quadrant, pelvis, heart, lung for pneumothorax, summary
