Zedu Weekly Wrap – 10 February 2023
What is it about ultrasound you love the most?
Is it the technology, the challenge of learning new and interesting ways it can help you and your patient or is simply the ability to do something cool that a lot of others can’t?
For us it’s the satisfaction of seeing someone that hasn’t picked up a probe get that spark in the AHA moment, where things start to click into place and the fuzz begins to mean something. And everyone here has been re-energised with that experience this week as we work with a new group of sonography students on our fast-track program – with their energy and excitement we think the profession is in safe hands into the future.
Highlights from this week include a piece on the feasibility of tele-guided patient-administered lung ultrasound (@WINFOCUS), a study that compares Artificial Intelligence (AI) against POCUS experts (@JCM_MDPI) that highlights a combined computer/human effort results in the best outcome, and a fun piece on @JaffaMD who has recently joined the ranks at Yale.
Plus there’s a whole lot more to review – something for everyone.
And please – if you have research, news, views or resources you’d like included in our weekly wrap feel free to reach out any time.
See you next week.
Suean and Mike
P.S. – don’t forget to tune into us on Spotify – we’ve got an ultrasound playlist guaranteed to keep your POCUS rocking!
P.P.S. The recording of the first Coaching Corner for 2023 – covering the tips & tricks you can use to take the pain out of foreign bodies – will be uploaded soon. In the meantime chaeck the back catalogue of ultrasound topics here – there’s someting for everyone.
Get the most out of your teaching moments – join our TRain the UltraSound Trainer (TRUST) course This isn’t a course on how to perform an ultrasound examination or use the technology – it’s designed to give you the teaching tools you’ll need to teach ultrasound on the run. In the words of a previous participant – it’s meta!
