The focus on repetitive practice ensures that you learn and retain the knowledge. You will practice on real people of various body shapes, sizes, and ages.

We start by developing your skills with normal, uncomplicated patients and then progress to more challenging body habitus’.

This gradual progression ensures that you build a solid foundation before tackling more complex scenarios, giving you the confidence to handle any situation. Additionally, you'll develop communication skills to support your clinical practice.

What the course covers

At the end of this full-time 20 day intensive start-up ultrasound training program participants will have the ability to:

Proficiently optimise ultrasound images by using the B-mode and Doppler machine controls.
Develop proficiency in probe manipulation to acquire diagnostic images efficiently and purposefully.
Use a structured and methodical approach to assess the anatomical region of interest.
Perform a systematic examination using contemporary imaging protocols on an uncomplicated patient within the specified timeframe for the following examinations:
- Abdomen - 45 minutes
- Renal – 30 minutes
- Aorta - 30 minutes
- Thyroid – 30 minutes
- TA and TV pelvis – 40 minutes
- Unilateral DVT – 30 minutes
Use sonographic terminology to accurately communicate ultrasound findings and complete worksheets for various imaging scenarios.
Obtain informed consent by effectively communicating procedure details, risks, benefits, and alternatives, ensuring patient understanding and voluntary decision-making.
Demonstrate effective communication strategies in the examination room to obtain an appropriate presenting history, address patient concerns and enhance patient satisfaction.

Note This course is ideally suited for students who have already secured a trainee position and are about to begin their training. It aims to accelerate the learning curve during the first few months, ensuring you are work ready. An attendance certificate and progress report summarising your achievements can be provided to future employers. Please note that Zedu does not find training positions for candidates or act as an intermediary. The candidate is responsible for securing their training position, which should ideally commence within 4-6 weeks of completing the course. Zedu does not guarantee that course completion will ensure you attain a training placement.
