Zedu Weekly Wrap – 11 October 2024
It has been a busy time here…
as we welcomed back daylight saving – threw a few of us here with jetlag symptoms minus the fun international travel bit. PLUS some of the wall clocks were overlooked – mmmm 🙂
We also launched our latest offering this week – Australia’s first ultrasound training course dedicated to gastric ultrasound. Ultrasound has come to the fore in this application with the increased use of GLP-1 agonists and the range of physiological factors that can confound the (somewhat anachronistic) fasting guidelines. In only one day you can develop the skill to utilise ultrasound utilising a simple protocol, significantly reducing aspiration risk and improving patient management. Get on board…
Highlights of the week to look at:
- #Blocktober24 continues with daily anaesthesia gems from Jeff Gadsden (@jeffgadsden)
- Several interesting articles from the Journal of Maternal-Fetal & Neonatal Medicine (10 October)
See you next week.

Hey hey it’s the 8th of #Blocktober24 ! I’ve gone on record saying RAPTIR is my fave brachial plexus block. Excellent needle visualization? ✅ Avoidance of vessels? ✅ No redirections? ✅ There’s a lot to like, and it’s actually our MOST performed brachial plexus approach… pic.twitter.com/nb2BwLABVB

Morning #Blocktober24 peeps! It’s Day 7 and today I want to highlight a block technique that is relatively new, but has been taking off for its utility, simplicity and effectiveness… @Duke_Anesthesia @amit_pawa @GongGasGirl @EMARIANOMD @EM_RESUS @diazolam @OrlandoRPN @DrSleep88 pic.twitter.com/PV6IfRVQaB

In #POCUS, talent knows no gender. Yet our field’s diversity isn’t reflected where it matters most:
70% of med students are women
75% of advanced practitioners are female
80% of sonographers are womenBut conf panels, publications & courses….Overwhelmingly male.

Hi all, and happy 6th day of #Blocktober24 ! It’s no secret that I love me a good catheter. It’s a simple way to extend your block for days and days, especially when the pain burden is prolonged… @Duke_Anesthesia @amit_pawa @GongGasGirl @EMARIANOMD @fuzzymittens @OrlandoRPN pic.twitter.com/m1k8ReGK40
