Objectives
On completion of this four-day clinically focused ultrasound training program, emergency physicians will:- Use ultrasound system controls to optimize imaging for accurate diagnosis in clinical practice
- Develop proficiency in probe manipulation to efficiently acquire diagnostic images for bedside emergency ultrasound
- Describe the limitations and clinical integration of the following bedside ultrasound examinations:
- Renal
- Gallbladder
- scrotum
- Ocular
- Soft tissue
- Peripheral nerve blocks
- 1st trimester
- Renal calculi and hydronephrosis
- Gallstones and biliary pathology
- Testicular torsion, epididymitis, orchitis and acute scrotum,
- DVT
- Foreign bodies in the eye, retinal detachment and ocular trauma
- Lumps and bumps, foreign bodies and musculoskeletal applications such as gross muscle tears, joint effusions and fractures
- Peripheral nerve location and approach for guided nerve block procedures
- Early pregnancy assessment of pain and bleeding and evaluation of ectopic pregnancy
