Zedu Weekly Wrap – 2 June 2023
Winter isn’t just coming…
it’s here. Loving the crisper nights, and the excuse to have a wee dram with a good hearty pasta 🙂 Given Melbourne is the culinary capital of Australia we’re spoiled for choice!
And we’ve been equally spoiled for choice again in the #FOAMed ultrasound world. On the menu that we recommend this week is “Ultrasound detected increase in optic disk height to identify elevated intracranial pressure: a systematic review” from @WINFOCUS (27 May), a range of ED focused articles from @UCIrvineHealth (28 May), and a piece by @NephroP “Subxiphoid is the only window available? No problem!” (30 May). Something for entree, mains and dessert.
And as a digestiv, keep an eye out for the recording of Suean’s Coaching Corner – a guide to colour Doppler. It’ll be up soon.
Off now – I’m hungry!
See you next week…
Suean and Mike
P.S. Get the most out of your teaching moments – join our TRain the UltraSound Trainer (TRUST) course This isn’t a course on how to perform an ultrasound examination or use the technology – it’s designed to give you the teaching tools you’ll need to teach ultrasound on the run. In the words of a previous participant – it’s meta!

Pulmonary teaching case: you are called to the bedside of a 60yo man who was admitted for pneumonia a week ago. You were called because “he coughed and now his chest is PULSATING!”
This is what you see at the site of a previously removed chest drain:
