Zedu Weekly Wrap – 9 June 2023
Life is what happens to you while you’re making other plans.
This phrase – most notably associated with John Lennon in his song Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy) – pretty much sums it up. No matter how prepared you are, or how stable you think your situation is, life delivers the unexpected. Sometimes it’s for the better, often times not.
The past few weeks have thrown a few curve balls at some of the crew here. That these events have conincided with each other is unfortunate. It’s been tough, and with our medical hat on could simply be attributed to representing (again) life. But what we’re proud of is everyone has rallied around and created a raft to navigate the storm. A life raft. So to all the team – thanks.
Highlights in the news week to look out for: the clinical application of ultrasound for AKI injust during sepsis (@WFUMB), a study on “Real-time Remote Expert-guided Echocardiography by Medical Students” (@WINFOCUS), and from @BSEcho a workforce report that focuses on the development of a formal national career pathway to promote retention of NHS echocardiography staff. Seems the ultrasound recruitment, training and retention issues are universal.
It’s a long weekend here – so see you Tuesday!
Suean and Mike
P.S. – the June Coaching COrner on Colour Doppler will be released this week – keep an eye out.
P.P.S. Get the most out of your teaching moments – join our TRain the UltraSound Trainer (TRUST) course This isn’t a course on how to perform an ultrasound examination or use the technology – it’s designed to give you the teaching tools you’ll need to teach ultrasound on the run. In the words of a previous participant – it’s meta!
