Zedu Weekly Wrap – 20 January 2023
When you teach POCUS…
who needs electricity?!? Our resolve and abilities were tested again this week as we faced not only a gas line explosion opposite the Zedu HQ, but in the big bang all the electricity was taken out. Being used to natural disasters by now this was a piece of cake. With our GE, SonoSite, MindRay, Philips, Butterfly and EchoNous systems all fully charged and in hand we got through it with flying colours. And as we work in the dark anyway the lights weren’t really missed. We’re thinking we may forgo the electricity bills in the future…but then again we missed the coffee so maybe not!
Highlights from this week include the final edition of Joseph Minardi’s cardiopulmonary series (@jminardi21) and a discussion in the latest US GEL PODCAST on the state of POCUS with @PratsEM and @nobleultrasound – tune in to these as they’re great resources.
Tuning out ourselves now.
See you next week – hopefully with electricity.
Suean and Mike

Get the most out of your teaching moments – join our TRain the UltraSound Trainer (TRUST) course This isn’t a course on how to perform an ultrasound examination or use the technology – it’s designed to give you the teaching tools you’ll need to teach ultrasound on the run. In the words of a previous participant – it’s meta!

We are pleased to open up registration for our next #POCUS club. It will be on 14th Feb 23 from 1500-1600hrs UK time. I missed a trick by organising a Lung US talk instead of a heart-related topic for Valentine's Day🤦🏻♂️. We have the amazing @NHSmallwood speaking to us on Lung US! https://t.co/YjimbNdAMl

Ok – let's unpack this.
Most of the lungs are fairly unexciting, in a predominant A-line profile.
The R base is not well seen; likely a v small consolidation (probably atelectasis) and trace associated effusion.
The L base is where it gets interesting. https://t.co/Dro8nB9IHs

#POCUS is a simple and innovative tool but it requires formal and certified training in experienced centres. Our proposed curriculum model. Thanks to my friends @NephroP @ArgaizR and all @bover_j @JJuega @JordiSolerM @inespa91 @Emor67 @jmanriquees https://t.co/Apujo9YkfY pic.twitter.com/HxlvzjvJZR
