Zedu Weekly Wrap – 9 December 2022
Team junior POCUS keep telling us 15 more sleeps…
which means the “Gel on the Bell” is making it’s yearly appearance, each day hiding itself among the probes and bedsheets spreading it’s gooey joy for people to discover 🙂 Where will it appear next….
Today we’re celebrating our patient models with a wee Christmas party – a great opportunity to catch up with them all at the same time – and with all their clothes on! Many of you will have met them when you were here with us, and without these generous individuals providing ther time and bodies for science teaching ultrasound properly is impossible. Phantoms, simulators and AR can get you some of the way, but having a real, warm, breathing (and gassy) person on the ultrasound couch is the gold standard (after all, when was the last time you asked your iPad to roll over?) We think all our patients are gold standard too – keep an eye out for pics of them on our socials.
Highlights for this week from the world of ultrasound learning include a good summary of fetal biometry from MetroHealth (@MH_EMultrasound @mtabbut), Michael Prats covers pulse checks in CPR (@PratsEM) and the premier episode of the Block it Like It’s Hot podcast from DJs Amit Pawa and Jeff Gadsden(@BlockIt_Hot_Pod). Plenty to catch up with and keep us occupied this weekend.
That’s all for now – see you next week…
Suean and Mike
P.S. – follow us on Mastodon – https://med-mastodon.com/@zedunow
P.P.S. – Catch up with all 30 episodes of the Coaching Corner – covering a wide gamut of ultrasound topics – and always free 🙂 The next instalment will be Thursday 2 February see you in 2023! (Let us know if you want something specific covered…)
PS – Join the POCUS Educators / Seed Support Network on Facebook – a safe space to share education tips, resources and issues. People from around the world are joining in so come on down.
Get the most out of your teaching moments – join our TRain the UltraSound Trainer (TRUST) course This isn’t a course on how to perform an ultrasound examination or use the technology – it’s designed to give you the teaching tools you’ll need to teach ultrasound on the run. In the words of a previous participant – it’s meta!
