Designed to meet the credentialing requirements of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, our ultrasound training course focuses on equipping critical care physicians with essential point-of-care ultrasound skills. Learn to perform bedside ultrasound for rapid diagnosis of critical conditions and procedural guidance.

Objectives

On completion of this four day clinically focused ultrasound training program, emergency physicians will:

  1. Use ultrasound system controls to optimize imaging for accurate diagnosis in clinical practice
  2. Develop proficiency in probe manipulation to efficiently acquire diagnostic images for bedside emergency ultrasound
  3. Describe the limitations and clinical integration of the following bedside ultrasound examinations:
    • eFAST
    • AAA
    • Lung ultrasound
    • Focused echo in life support
  4. Use a systematic approach to conduct bedside ultrasound assessment of
    • trauma
    • abdominal aortic aneurysms
    • shortness of breath (including covid-19)
    • pericardial effusions, cardiac activity and global function
  5. Demonstrate ultrasound-guided needle placement in plane and out of plane for vascular access and procedural applications using ultrasound simulators
